Portable mixing tanks used in drug processing, preparation, material buffering, and storage are sometimes fitted with multiple industrial sensors to ensure the highest standards in drug production are always met. The data generated during these processes can be transmitted wirelessly to the process control system with the help of Pepperl+Fuchs’ Bullet WirelessHART adapters.
The Bullet WirelessHART adapter can communicate wirelessly with 4 mA … 20 mA or 4 mA … 20 mA HART transmitters. Two Pepperl+Fuchs Bullet WirelessHART adapters can be placed on a mixing tank and powered by the same source as the tank’s agitator. One adapter can transmit the agitator’s 4 mA … 20 mA signal in scaled engineering units, while the second adapter can monitor up to eight HART-enabled industrial sensors that support multidrop communication. Using multidrop mode, the second Bullet WirelessHART adapter can send data about fill level, temperature, pH value, and pressure to the process control system.
This configuration reduces the time and cost associated with conventional wiring by enabling the tank to communicate with the control system wirelessly. For existing devices, the Bullet WirelessHART adapter is powered directly from the current loop. By using our patented StepVolt technology, the user can set the insertion voltage from 1 V to 2.5 V to optimize the available power and wireless communications bandwidth.
To ensure all electronic components are protected during clean-in-place procedures, the Bullet WirelessHART adapter is housed in durable, Ex d aluminum, and an anti-static dome protects its antenna. The adapter can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. Combined with WirelessHART technology, these features provide the adaptability necessary for future changes to the drug production process.
